Indian cricket team head coach GautamGambhir received two death threats via email from “ISIS Kashmir” on April 22, coinciding with the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 tourists in Jammu and Kashmir. The emails, containing the message “IKillU”,  prompted Gambhir to file a formal complaint with Delhi Police, seeking an FIR and enhanced security for his family.

The emails arrived hours after the Pahalgam attack, where terrorists targeted non-Muslim tourists at Baisaran meadow. Gambhir faced similar threats in 2021 as a BJP MP, leading to heightened security measures.Delhi Police’s Rajinder Nagar station registered the complaint and launched an investigation into the Gmail account linked to the threats.

Gambhir, who recently led India to Champions Trophy 2025 victory, condemned the Pahalgam attack on X “Praying for the families. Those responsible will pay. India will strike”. His tenure as coach began turbulently with early losses but stabilized after the ICC triumph.

The threats come amid heightened security concerns following the deadliest Kashmir attack since 2019 Pulwama, with global leaders like US VP JD Vance condemning the violence. Delhi Police are expected to fortify Gambhir’s security while probing potential links to terror networks.
