Rishabh Pant worked with Yuvraj Singh in Mumbai last week as part of his preparation for IPL 2026. The two spent about four days at the Brabourne Stadium, holding batting sessions during both day and night while trying out a range of white-ball shots.
Pant, 28, who did not have a great season last year, is keen to make a statement this time. "He shares a good personal equation with Yuvraj and the two had discussed the possibility of working together for a few days. It materialised last week," said a source close to them.
Yuvraj, a white ball legend of Indian cricket, has developed a reputation as a mentor, having worked with the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill and Prabhsimran Singh among others. Abhishek, in particular, has grown into one of the most feared T20 batters in world cricket, with Yuvraj widely credited for playing a vital role in his growth.
Working with Yuvraj could also help revive Pant's white-ball career. He has not played for India in either white-ball formats since August 2024.
After the stint with Yuvraj, Pant left for Chennai where Lucknow Super Giants are holding a preparatory camp at the Coaching Beyond ground in the city. Bowling coach Bharat Arun and batting coach Lance Klusener are overseeing the camp, which is being attended by, among others, Ayush Badoni, Mohsin Khan, Himmat Singh, Digvesh Singh, Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav. The camp will shift to Lucknow after March 15.
LSG kick off their season with a match against Delhi Capitals in Lucknow on April 1.
Rajasthan Royals camp in Jaipur
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals announced commencement of their first preseason training camp in Jaipur from March 17. The Royals squad will assemble at the Pink City kicking off the camp with training, fitness and nets sessions at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. "Under the guidance of head coach and director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara, the camp will focus on fostering team bonding, intensive training and planning along with strength and training sessions," the Royals said.
Earlier, a smaller group of players, including Ravi Bishnoi, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Sandeep Sharma, and recently Ravindra Jadeja had attended a short camp cum fitness assessment session at franchise's High Performance Centre in Nagpur. Royals play their first game of the season in Guwahati against Chennai Super Kings on March 30.
