Kirstie Gordon, the 28-year-old left-arm spinner, has been picked in Scotland's squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup, set to be played in England. Cricket Scotland announced the 15-player squad, to be led by Kathryn Bryce, on Monday.
Gordon, who has featured in five T20Is and one Test for England, last played an international game in 2019, will make her maiden appearance for Scotland. Gordon's last appearance for Scotland came in the 2017 NatWest T20 Cup. In the Women's Hundred, she picked 11 wickets in eight matches at an economy rate of 7.71 for Trent Rockets last season. In April 2026, in the English domestic season, she picked 8 wickets in five domestic One-Day Cup fixtures for The Blaze.
Speaking on her inclusion, head coach Craig Wallace said, “We have multiple world-class players in this team, and Kirstie [Gordon] is definitely one of them. We welcome her involvement in the group and expect her to drive our standards up even more and help us to improve Scottish cricket. I'm looking forward to working with her and helping her enhance her own skills as well.”
The squad also includes the uncapped pacer Maisie Maceira, along with her 2025 Under-19 batchmates Gabriella Fontenla and wicketkeeper-batter Pippa Sproul.
Hannah Rainey, Niamh Robertson-Jack, Mollie Annie Parker are among the players who have been left out of the squad that finished third in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global qualifiers.
"It was hugely difficult to select a fifteen, but that's a testament to the growth and success of the women's game in Scotland over the last few years," Wallace said.
"The depth we have now to choose from is incredible and every selection is enjoyable, but really tough. I think we've got a really good balance in the squad in terms of what we think we need to succeed in this tournament."
In preparations for the upcoming World Cup, Scotland will host a tri-series, also involving Bangladesh and Netherlands, in Edinburgh. Robertson-Jack and Ellen Watson will be a part of the squad for that series.
